Windows Insider Preview Dev & Beta Builds Get Copilot Plus & Accessibility Boosts
Same Features in Dev and Beta Builds
In a move that’s now become a trend
for two weeks straight, Microsoft has rolled out identical features and
fixes to both the Dev and Beta Channels of the Windows Insider
Preview program. This rare alignment suggests Microsoft is doubling down on
testing features with wider scope and feedback in mind.
If you're a Windows Insider, this
week's update has a little bit of everything from Copilot+ PC enhancements
to voice accessibility features and File Explorer improvements. Let’s
go into everything new.
Copilot+ PCs Are Front and Center
Again
Microsoft’s focus on Copilot+ PCs
is becoming increasingly clear. With new AIdriven features rolling out, the
goal seems to be deep integration across the system.
Two New Click to Do Text Actions
These features are part of the Recall
experience, exclusive to Copilot+ devices
Practice in Reading Coach
Select recognized onscreen text and read it aloud. Microsoft’s Reading Coach
will provide feedback to help improve pronunciation and fluency.
Read
with Immersive Reader
Displays the selected text in a distraction free format. You can customize the
font, spacing, theme, and more. It even helps highlight parts of speech (nouns,
verbs, adjectives) and includes a read aloud feature ideal for learners of all
ages.
Cloud Photo Search in the Windows
Taskbar (EEA Only)
Another Copilot+ PC feature now
rolling out to users in the European Economic Are (EEA) lets you
Use
natural language (e.g. dog on beach ) to search for cloud stored photos
directly from the Windows Search box.
Get combined
search results from both local storage and the cloud.
This feature is gradually rolling
out to Snapdragon powered Copilot+ PCs.
Voice Access Gets Personal with
Custom Vocabulary
Microsoft is now officially
testing a previously hidden feature custom vocabulary in Voice Access.
Add Custom Words to Voice Access
You can now teach Windows difficult
to pronounce or niche words, improving dictation accuracy. This
works across all supported languages, including
French
German
Spanish
You’ll find this under Voice
Access Settings → Vocabulary → Add Word.
Voice Access Discoverability
Features
Microsoft is rolling out in product
tips and highlighted walk throughs in Voice Access to make new
features easier to discover. You can access this from the settings menu or dismiss
it anytime.
Also, Voice Access is now accessible
from the Quick Settings Accessibility Flyout in the system tray making
it easier to toggle on and off.
File Explorer Tabs > Windows
Windows is finally behaving like a
modern file manager. In the new builds
Opening
folders from apps or the desktop now opens them in a new tab within File Explorer rather than spawning a brand new
window.
You can
revert this to the old behavior via File Explorer Options → General → Browse
folders.
Small change, big quality of life
win.
Widget Improvements More Control Over Notifications
Microsoft is experimenting with fine
grained notification controls in Widgets. Users in the EEA can now
Manage
notifications per feed or dashboard
Customize
what info pops up and when
Widgets might finally become
something more people use instead of immediately disabling.
Windows Security Update Pluton TPM
Details
If your device has a Pluton TPM
chip, the Windows Security app now shows
Manufacturer
Version
number
You can find these under Device
Security → Security Processor Details. Transparency is a win here,
especially for security conscious users.
Visual Refresh Printer Rename Dialog
Another legacy UI bites the dust!
The printer rename dialog under Settings → Bluetooth & Devices →
Printers and Scanners has been refreshed to match Windows 11’s modern
design language.
Fixes and Known Issues
These builds come with a mix of fixes
and known issues, which is to be expected for Insider builds. Microsoft
continues to refine the experience across multiple layers of the OS, especially
with the increasing use of AI and personalization features.
Dev & Beta Builds Show Unified
Focus on AI, Accessibility
Whether you're testing the latest
Insider builds or just watching from the sidelines, it's clear that
Microsoft is aligning the Dev and Beta Channels to fasttrack AI
experiences and enhanced accessibility.
With Copilot+ PCs now acting
as a testing ground for ambitious features and a major push toward natural
interaction through voice, image, and AI it’s safe to say that Windows 11 is
evolving rapidly.
