How to Enable the New Notification Center Clock in Windows 11 (23H2 Beta)
Microsoft is quietly testing a new notification center upgrade in the Windows 11 23H2(11 22635.5240
) Beta Channel, and it's actually pretty great: the clock is back in the notification/calendar panel
If you’ve missed the classic clock
from Windows 10, or just want more customization in your taskbar area, this is
a slick and easy tweak. Best of all—it’s already hidden inside your system.
You just need to unlock it.
Here’s how to enable the new
notification center clock in Windows 11 using ViVeTool.
What’s New in the Windows 11 Notification Center?
This update brings back the clock
inside the notification center, right where it used to be in Windows 10.
It’s clean, functional, and matches the modern Fluent Design aesthetic
of Windows 11.
Even better? You get an easy toggle
to turn it on or off. It’s not forced—it's customizable, just how we like it.
Prerequisites: What You Need
To try this out, you’ll need:
A PC
running Windows 11 version 23H2 (Beta Channel only)
Access to ViVeTool,
a free tool to unlock hidden Windows features
Admin
privileges
Let’s start
Enable the New Clock in Notification
Center
Download and Set Up ViVeTool
First, download the latest ViVeTool
version:
Releases
· thebookisclosed/ViVe (link)
Choose the
version based on your processor: Intel, AMD, or Snapdragon
Extract
the ZIP file into a dedicated folder (e.g., C:\features)
Copy the
folder path—you’ll need it for the command line
Run Command Prompt as Administrator
Search for cmd in the Start menu, right-click it, and choose Run as
administrator.
Enable the Feature Using ViVeTool
Now type the following command
(replace the path with your own folder location if different)
bash
CopyEdit
cd
C:\features
vivetool
/enable /id:42651849
You should see a message: Successfully
set feature configuration.
If that doesn’t work, try this
fallback command:
bash
CopyEdit
vivetool
/enable /id:48433719
This second ID is broader and
unlocks multiple test features in the Beta channel.
Restart Explorer (or Reboot Your PC)
To apply the changes
Open Task
Manager
Find Windows
Explorer, right-click, and hit Restart
Alternatively, just reboot your
system.
Enable Clock in Settings
Once your system restarts
Open Settings
Go to Time
& Language > Date & Time
Toggle on Show
time in notification center
That’s it You’ll now see the time displayed
inside your notification/calendar panel.
What It Looks Like
The clock
is larger and bolded—easy to read at a glance
It fits
perfectly with the Windows 11 design style
If you
disable it, the panel goes back to the minimal look
A small change, but honestly, it
makes the notification area feel more complete especially for those who
prefer more traditional layouts.
Important Notes
This
feature is currently only available in the Beta Channel (23H2)
It might
roll out to stable builds later, but no guarantees yet
Make sure
you are running an up-to-date Beta build before trying this
Windows 11 continues to evolve and
little tweaks like this show that Microsoft is still listening to user
feedback. The return of the notification center clock is a small but
powerful UX improvement, and it’s awesome that we can already enable it
ourselves.
Whether you're into customizing
every pixel or just want your PC to feel more you, this is a cool
feature to try out today.
