Google Chrome's Split Screen Feature   Catching Up to Microsoft Edge

Buggybyte

If you've been keeping an eye on the browser wars, you'll know that Google Chrome has been playing catch up with Microsoft Edge's split screen feature. Well, I've got some exciting news for you Chrome is making serious strides, and I'm here to give you the lowdown on the latest improvements in Chrome Canary version 137. Let's dive in

What New in Chrome's Split Screen?

The Split View Button Works Remember when clicking the split view button did nothing? Those days are gone Now, just like in Edge, clicking this button opens a new tab to the right. It's a small change, but it makes a world of difference in usability.

Open Bookmarks in Split View you can now right click on any bookmark and select  Open in split view.  Boom  Your bookmarked page opens up on the right side of your screen. This works for bookmarks saved anywhere in your browser.

Open Tabs in Split View Another cool update   when you click on the split view button, you can now actually open your existing tabs in split view. It's all about that smooth, seamless browsing experience

Still Missing?

While these improvements are great, Chrome's split screen feature isn't quite on par with Edge yet. For instance,

You can't close the split view by clicking the button again you need to manually close the split tab.

The overall experience still feels a bit clunky in some areas.

Why So Slow, Google?

It's puzzling why Google, usually at the forefront of browser innovation, has been so slow to roll out this feature. Brave Browser, for example, implemented split screen much faster. Edge has had it for ages. So, what gives, Google?

When will this be seen in Stable Chrome?

These improvements look promising, but there's still more to do. We can't say exactly when they'll be ready, but with the progress we're seeing, it shouldn't be too long.

Split screen browsing isn't just a cool feature; it's a real productivity booster. It lets you:

Compare information side by side
Multitask more easily
Make your research process smoother
Improve your overall browsing experience
Give It a Try If you want to test these new features:

Download Chrome Canary (keep in mind, it's an unstable version for testing).
Find the split screen button in the top right corner.
Start playing around with the new functionalities.
Chrome might be late to the split screen game, but they're working hard to catch up. These updates show that Google is listening to users and trying to match other browsers in terms of functionality.
